Work is progressing on the ground where the Masonic Hall
will be placed directly opposite the present site.

Masonic Hall was relocated during the time that the canal was
being converted from locks to sea-level.
Demolition must have occured around 1938.

Masonic Hall - 1870-1938
Masonic Hall was a three story
wooden structure built during 1870.
Approximate Location then: Near the east end of
Long Bridge which ran across
the mouth of the basin from the dock area (Pell Gardens) to the Corps property.
Approximate Location Todays Bearings: If you were standing on
the
Chesapeake Inn
property facing North Chesapeake City, or, in North
Chesapeake City
facing the Chesapeake Inn, Masonic Hall would have
been in your line
of sight around the west end of the Corps of Engineers
road.
The Masons held their meetings on the third floor. Silent movies were
shown on the second floor accompanied by a player piano and
the first
floor was home to the Post Office and other businesses.
